Band 8a Assistant Operations Manager ED/UTC/AAU
We are currently advertising for a Band 8A Assistant Operations Manager to join the ED/UTC/AAU Operations Team at Barnet Hospital. It is an exciting time to join our team - the post holder would play a pivotal role in supporting the current workforce and capital developments that are underway. In addition, the post holder will support the Senior Operations Manager in the operational management and delivery of the Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centre, and Adult Assessment Unit.

Main Duties of the Job
* Support the Senior Operations Manager in delivering the vision for the Barnet hot floor, including all aspects of delivery (process mapping, pathways, relationship building, providing leadership for all teams, etc.).
* Line manage and provide leadership for Service Managers (ED/UTC/AAU) and support/provide leadership for all administration teams within the service.
* Lead the service performance management systems ensuring that Trust and monitor standards are understood and adhered to, and that performance reports are produced to enable divisional compliance.
* Support the governance arrangements within the directorate including audit, complaints, incidents, risk, and health and safety.
* Be responsible to the Senior Operations Manager for financial performance relating to delegated budgets.
* Support/be responsible for Trust HR processes as required.
* Be visible on and around the hot floor and attend daily sit reps meetings (ED/UTC/AAU).
* Represent/deputise for the Senior Operations Manager as required.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Minimum of a 1st degree or equivalent.
* Evidence of continuing personal development.
Experience
* Track record of successfully working in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Significant experience of working in the NHS in a junior management position.
* Staff management and supervision, and leading a team.
* Introducing new ways of working & project management experience.
* Ability to work to deadlines.
* Experience and familiarity with business planning and preparation of business cases.
* Budget management experience including monitoring expenditure and identifying savings.
Skills and Knowledge
* Understanding of national NHS policy and targets.
* Good interpersonal, oral, and written skills including chairing team meetings and writing reports. Knowledge of Cerner/hospital IT systems/word processing/Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to negotiate with and influence staff at all levels.
* Knowledge of capital procurement in the NHS.

* Well organized and practical with a logical, analytical approach to work.
* Pays careful attention to detail.
* Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.

£59,490 to £66,239 a year, per annum inclusive of HCAS.
