This role plays an integral role in leading and supporting the delivery and resource management for the Industrial Transformation Group. The role reports to the Director of Delivery Planning with a dotted line into the Associate Director for the Industrial Transformation Group.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Tactical Deployment (Now to Near)
1. Accountable for Group tactical deployment of engineering resource to meet operational objectives, including chargeable hours and labour earnings.
2. Accountable for resolution and escalation of day-to-day planning issues.
3. Accountable for effective and efficient management of day-to-day deployment of engineering resource.
4. Accountable for effective reporting of forward delivery planning metrics, including supply forecast, capacity gaps, forecast chargeable hours and labour earnings.
5. Take a leading role in developing tools and processes required to support effective delivery.
6. Represent Group in sales and operational planning process across Now, Near and Far horizons. Activities include managing Group supply and ability to deliver planned demand, highlighting available capacity and creation of appropriate mitigation plans.
7. Influence the technical sales activity to align with available capacity and influence the use of core Catapult to smooth demand by working with appropriate functional leads/department leads.
8. Responsible for maintaining and growing contractor relationships for external resourcing needs.
2. Strategic delivery planning (Near to far)
1. Accountable for long term resourcing plan aligned to MTC and Technology Group strategy.
2. Responsible for creation and ownership of a long-term Skills Strategy aligned to MTC and Technology Group strategy in collaboration with group leads.
3. Collaborate with Group Associate Director and Department Leads to define the requirements of a future recruitment plan aligned to long term resourcing and skills strategy.
4. Ownership of appropriate deployment models, including recommendations on team and Group structures to enable effective deployment.
5. Identification and communication of succession planning requirements (linking into non-technical aspect of long-term resourcing plan).
6. Take a leading role in developing tools and processes required to support long term delivery planning (e.g. skills and competency matrix design, standardised future capability packs).
3. Internal networking
1. Maintain an effective interface with MTC Industrial and Technology sectors ensuring that a continuous dialogue is maintained around future strategic opportunities and project pipeline. Key stakeholders include Sector Director, Senior Programme Manager and Business Development Managers.
4. Leadership
1. Provide support to the Technology Group leadership team, taking the lead in Group initiatives when required.
2. Act as a role model within the business to inspire RIGHT ways of working.
3. Support in developing individuals through mentoring and coaching as required.
4. Act as a Communication champion.

6. Encourage cross functional collaboration.

5. Must be comfortable with responding to rapidly changing business priorities.

8. Experienced in resource management, utilising resource planning tools and monitoring performance KPIs.
9. Experience in line management and comfortable working in a matrix-led organisation.
