POST TITLE: After School Club Playworker - part time
Grade/Hours: Grade 6, 7 – 12 to start April 2025
Two positions 13.75 hours per week, term time only (£8171.03 - £8850.09)
One position 10.00 hours per week term time only (£6037.28 - £6436.43)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of School
Paston Ridings Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; we expect all our staff to share this commitment.
We are looking to employ a Play Worker to work under the direction of the After School Club Leader to provide safe and stimulating care for children after school.
Specific Duties:
1. To provide a range of stimulating activities, indoor & outdoor, relevant to the age, stage and needs of young children which encourage and develop all areas of development.
2. To provide and prepare safe nutritional snacks for children.
3. To provide a facility for children to do their homework, including reading.
4. Ensure the welfare and safety of children within our care.
5. Promote good behaviour.
6. Treat all children as individuals and have a secure knowledge and understanding of their needs while they are within our care.
7. To act as a First Aider.
8. Motivate and encourage the children to participate in activities.
9. Liaise with Class Teachers and parents/guardians.
10. Develop methods of promoting the children’s self-esteem.
11. Ensure a clean, tidy environment conducive to fostering good health and safety practice.
12. Follow statutory and non-statutory policies and procedures required for the efficient running of the club.
13. Ensure the provision is maintained to Ofsted standards of care.
Person Specification:
1. Experience of working in an education setting committed to the inclusion agenda.
2. Experience of working to support children’s learning, gained in a relevant environment.
3. Knowledge and understanding of First Aid.
4. Knowledge and understanding of child protection and safeguarding.
5. Good communication skills.
6. Good ICT Skills.
7. Good Numeracy and Literacy Skills (GCSE or equivalent).
8. Ability to work well with children and adults.
9. Good organising and prioritising skills.
10. Methodical and good attention to detail.
11. Customer focused.
12. Friendly yet professional approach.
13. Open, honest and an active listener.
14. Committed to the needs of the children, parents and other stakeholders.
