The Duke of York's Royal Military School seeks to appoint an Electrician. The post holder will ensure timely resolution of health and safety issues and defects, maintain electrical systems compliant with 18th edition regulations, perform inspection, testing, and certification, conduct Portable Appliance Testing, and ensure emergency lighting compliance, while supporting broader facilities management tasks and adhering to safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensure that all Health and Safety issues / defects are dealt with in a prompt manner either by making safe or permanent rectification.
2. Deal with all reported defects, via the Facilities Helpdesk within the approved Facilities Management Service Level Agreement document.
3. Ensure that all electrical maintenance / installations comply with 18th edition of wiring regulations.
4. Carry out inspection, testing and certification work in accordance with 2391-52 Inspection and Testing regulations.
5. Carry out periodic Portable Appliance Testing.
6. Familiarity with, and experience in analysing, schematic drawings.
7. Regular emergency lighting compliance testing and remedials.
8. Operate and maintain the 2 separate Building Management Systems (Sigma and Honeywell).
9. Assist maintenance staff in other maintenance tasks as required.
10. Undertake relevant training and updates as required to keep up to date with current legislation.
11. Undertake such reasonable duties as requested by your Line Manager, Principal or SLT.
Key Experience and Skills Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
1. Effective communicator – good oral & written skills.
2. Proven IT skills or ECDL or equivalent.
3. 2382-22 18th Edition wiring regulations qualification.
4. 2357 NVQ level 3 (or equivalent).
5. 2391-52 Inspection and Testing (or equivalent).
6. Experience of undertaking general maintenance activities.
7. Experience with control systems; domestic and commercial.
8. Experience with single and three phase distribution systems.
9. Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Experience/Skills
1. Previous experience of working in a school environment.
2. Experience of working in a customer services role.
3. Experience with Building Management Control Systems.
