The Role Here at SecureCloud we are seeking a talented Infrastructure Engineer to join our team based out of our Stoke on Trent site. The Infrastructure Engineer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our company's IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems administration, network engineering, and cloud technologies, with a passion for implementing innovative solutions to support our organisation's growth and technological advancements. Role Responsibilities Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design, deploy, and maintain the company's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage systems, and virtualisation platforms, to meet performance, scalability, and security requirements. Manage cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including provisioning resources, optimising costs, and implementing best practices for security and reliability. Perform system administration tasks, including installing, configuring, and troubleshooting operating systems, software applications, and system utilities across various platforms (Windows, Linux, etc.). Configure and manage network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, to ensure seamless connectivity, performance, and security of the company's network infrastructure. Implement security measures, such as access controls, encryption, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability assessments, to safeguard the company's IT assets and data against cyber threats. Monitor system performance, analyse trends, and implement optimisations to ensure maximum uptime, efficiency, and resource utilisation across the infrastructure. Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, backup strategies, and failover mechanisms to minimise downtime and ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or disasters. Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations, procedures, and policies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Education And Experience Requirements As the Infrastructure Engineer, you will have: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus. Proven experience as an infrastructure engineer or similar role, with a strong background in systems administration, network engineering, and cloud technologies. Proficiency in configuring and managing virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Docker) and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes). Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and routing/switching. Familiarity with security principles, practices, and tools for securing IT infrastructure, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint security solutions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and perform root cause analysis. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels. Experience with DevOps practices and tools for automation, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and infrastructure orchestration (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Puppet). Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) and network virtualisation technologies, such as SD-WAN and SDN controllers. Experience with implementing and managing enterprise-level storage solutions, such as SAN, NAS, and object storage systems. Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements, such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, and SOC 2, and experience in implementing controls to meet compliance standards.
