Description/Job Summary:
The AML Analyst will follow the firm’s AML processes, ensuring full compliance with regulatory and legal obligations across various jurisdictions, as part of a high performing team.
Responsibilities/Duties:
AML:
1. Review and assess the AML and reputational risk associated with new client and matter requests;
2. Perform client due diligence and screening for PEPs, Sanctions, Adverse Media etc., utilising a number of trusted industry sources;
3. Disposition screening alerts making a determination on true or false matches, escalating if required;
4. Thoroughly document research and analysis completed on clients and/or matters in a manner suitable for review by internal and external stakeholders in accordance with the firm’s AML policy;
5. Undertake appropriate research using tools and technology to assess risk on a client and matter basis as well as ongoing monitoring;
6. Perform investigations where there are ML/CTF suspicions regarding clients and/or matters and escalate findings clearly and concisely for internal review by the firm’s MLRO;
7. Develop solid relationships with key internal stakeholders including Partners, Associates, Business Services, and Conflicts;
8. Periodically evaluate existing clients (by way of ongoing monitoring) in order to keep CDD and risk assessments on client files up to date; and
9. Assist with any other AML compliance-related matters or projects as identified and assigned by the Director[s] of [European] Risk and Compliance and/or the Senior Risk & Compliance Lawyer.
Risk and Compliance:
1. Keep abreast of regulatory changes in the jurisdictions within which the firm operates;
2. Assist with policy changes following regulatory updates;
3. Assist with research and updating training materials as and when required; and
4. Assist the team with ad hoc projects as and when required.
Required Skills:
1. French language skills beneficial;
2. Bachelor's degree required (2:1 or above preferred);
3. Law degree preferred;
4. AML experience essential – within an international law firm preferred but not essential as full training will be given;
5. Strong understanding of AML/CTF requirements and financial crime risks associated with the range of services in the legal industry;
6. Strong analytical and research skills;
7. Experience of AML/KYC/Due Diligence processes and systems;
8. A very high level of attention to detail;
9. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;
10. Team player;
11. Must have sound judgment;
12. Able to work in a fast paced environment;
13. Good planning, time management and prioritisation skills; and
14. Must have good knowledge of Microsoft office applications especially strong Excel skills.
