The postholder will be responsible for managing the stock lists for Theatres in collaboration with the senior theatre staff and the pharmacy assistants who do the routine top ups. Will be responsible for leading on the governance aspects of medicines in theatres including ensuring that all audits are up to date and action plans are in place. It will be expected that the postholder would spend at least 25% of their time working with the theatre team. Support the theatre senior pharmacist with managing medicine supply issues. Along with the theatre pharmacist be the point of contact for any issues relating to medicines in theatres. The post holder will be responsible for delivering a high standard of clinical care to patients through the provision of a safe and effective clinical medicines optimisation service. Work is managed by the individual. Provide comprehensive technical support to all members of the department in the provision of a dispensary service. Ensure the timely and efficient delivery of requests for pharmaceutical products across the Trust by the dispensing and issuing of prescriptions, signed orders and controlled drugs orders establishing and maintain a communication link between pharmacy and the wards served. Providing a ward-based Pharmacy Technician service to designated wards. This will include medicines reconciliation of newly admitted patients, assessment of patients own drugs, overseeing the ordering of medication and c-ordinating the supply of discharge medication. To counsel patients on the routine use of their medicines, providing specific information to any special requirements ensuring patients understand their discharge medication. To act as an Accredited Checking Technician under a nationally recognised accuracy checking technician framework. To perform a final accuracy check on dispensed items against prescriptions and requisitions. To show continuous competency in checking accurately and safely. Supervising student pharmacy technicians, pharmacy support workers, dispensers and trainees in the department and across all wards. Liaising with pharmacists and a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a proficient and comprehensive medicines management service to all patients and staff across the integrated care system supporting across primary and secondary care.
