Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior CAD Engineer to join our team in vehicle development. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for delivering complete programmes for carline feasibility, packaging, development, and release of Body Exterior, Interior, Chassis, or Electrical components.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
* Create design proposals and concepts, and take decisions regarding engineering changes.
* Ensure progress in packaging, including calling meetings when needed.
* Verify design solutions together with the customer manufacturing teams.
* Ensure 3D Design and release according to time plan, customer specifications, and required methodology.
* Release of 2D drawings.
* Deliver components to quality and cost targets.
* Support component engineer with component development.
* Verify design solutions in prototype, virtual, and physical builds.
* Key engineering responsibilities: Requirements management, System(s) design, Designing for production, Designing for manufacturing assembly.
* Knowledge of DV/PV testing.
* Communicate delivery progress to the Project Leader on a regular basis.
* Ensure that the challenging programme timing objectives are met.
* Identify all risks to the programme and put in place mitigation measures.
* Responsible for establishing, planning, and running meetings to ensure appropriate cross-functional representation and input from all relevant areas.
* Ensure that issues are addressed and closed off.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Proven project engineering capability demonstrated by recent delivery on time & budget.
* +8 years of experience in this field.
* Ability to generate CAD data Catia v5/6.
* Mould flow analysis - plastics injection moulding.
* Stamping manufacturing processes.
Desirable Skills
The following skills would be beneficial:
* Parts design and release.
* Having previously delivered new or modified interior/exterior systems for large OEM production.
* 3Dx CAD experience.
* Experience of delivering accessory commodities including interior/exterior/functional.
Essential Skills
You will need to have:
* CAD Literacy: ability to manipulate and interrogate CAD data and use associated visualisation tools.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels.
* Experience in use of engineering tools FMEA, DFMEA problem resolution etc 8D.
* Experienced with Microsoft Tools – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
* Self-motivated.
Education
A degree level or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Design Engineering is essential.
