Responsibility for People Management:
1. Teach, train, and line manage junior staff, support workers, assistants, and students, including the use of formal appraisal documentation.
2. Monitor the clinical effectiveness of the team to ensure delivery of a service appropriate to their grade and within own specialism.
3. Lead in the recruitment of relevant grades of staff, ensuring all new staff receive a comprehensive induction programme.
4. Support colleagues in times of caseload pressure, including maintaining clinical cover across the team.
5. Ensure a variety of learning opportunities are available for team members, including clinical supervision and one-to-one feedback.
6. Manage sickness and unauthorized absence in line with Livewell Southwest policy.
7. Ensure all staff receive annual appraisals.
Responsibility for Financial and/or Physical Resources:
1. Use Livewell Southwest resources responsibly.
2. Work with the Management team to maintain and review the delegated pay and non-pay budget for the ward.
3. Act as authorized signatory for the ward budget.
4. Adhere to relevant trust policies on financial issues.
Responsibility for Administration:
1. Maintain an up-to-date record of all patient contacts, MDT care plans, goals, assessments, and reports while ensuring confidentiality.
2. Participate/take the lead in the triage and management of referrals to the service.
3. Report and provide feedback/learning to junior staff on accidents, incidents, or complaints.
4. Attend and contribute to relevant team/service meetings.
Responsibility for People Who Use Our Services:
1. Be professionally, legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work.
2. Carry out highly specialist nursing clinical interventions, including comprehensive assessments of patients with complex presentations.
3. Provide highly specialist advice to patients, carers, and relatives.
4. Assess mental capacity and gain valid informed consent.
Responsibility for Implementation of Policy and/or Service Developments:
1. Work with the leadership team in developing the strategic and operational direction of the nursing and multi-disciplinary team.
2. Lead and manage effective risk management processes for the clinical area.
3. Monitor standards of professional practice within the department.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Maintain registration with the NMC.
2. Participate in the Organisations Annual Appraisal Process.
3. Be responsible for maintaining equipment records and the safe use of clinical equipment.
Communications & Relationships:
1. Proactively seek feedback from patients and their families.
2. Resolve complaints and issues at a local level.
3. Communicate effectively with patients/carers and work collaboratively with Social, Health, and other agency colleagues.
Physical Demands of the Job:
1. Requires manual dexterity to perform clinical tasks.
2. Moderate to intense physical effort on a daily basis.
3. Tasks include moving/positioning patients and using heavy gym equipment.
