Job Specification: Quantity Surveyor (QS) -12-Month Contract (Inside IR35) Location - Iver (Heathrow) Site-based, with potential travel to Stafford and other project locations for meetings as required (Expenses would be reimbursed) Rate - Hourly DOE Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) for a 12-month contract to support our construction project teams, primarily focusing on civil and M&E subcontracted works. The QS will report functionally to the Construction Leader and operationally to the Project Director or Project Manager, with close collaboration with the Contracts Management team. This is a site-based role, but occasional travel to Stafford or other locations for project meetings may be required. Main Responsibilities: Subcontract Valuations : Carry out monthly valuations of subcontract works (civil and M&E) in line with contract requirements and timescales. Interim Payments : Make recommendations for interim payments to subcontractors based on valuation. Variations and Dayworks : Value variations and dayworks submitted by subcontractors, ensuring accurate cost assessments. Final Account Preparation : Prepare the final account for subcontract works, ensuring all necessary documentation and calculations are provided. Cost Forecasting : Provide cost forecasts for completing the project as instructed by the Project Manager. Cost Analysis : Provide the UK Grid Solutions Team at Stafford with cost analysis, comparing forecast vs actual progress (cost terms). Cost Estimates : Assist Site Managers and the Management Team by providing estimates for variations and cost impacts from project changes, including acceleration of work. Decision Support : Assist the site team by providing cost support and preparing estimates for proposed work or "what if" scenarios to inform decision-making. TQ Cost Impact : Assist the Site Construction teams in understanding the cost impact of Technical Queries (TQs) and related matters. Early Warning Notices : Notify the Project Director/Manager and Contracts Manager of any early warning notices or communications received from subcontractors. General Support : Provide general cost-related support to the GSI Construction site team as needed. Required Skills & Experience: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with expertise in civil and M&E subcontract works. Strong knowledge of cost estimation, forecasting, and valuation processes. Experience in preparing and negotiating final accounts for subcontractors. Ability to collaborate with site teams, construction management, and contracts management teams. Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in financial reporting and cost control. Ability to support decision-making by providing accurate cost estimates and analysis. Substation project experience would be desirable Employment Terms: Contract Type : Fixed-Term (12 Months) IR35 Status : Inside IR35 (Contractor treated as an employee for tax purposes) Tax and National Insurance deductions will apply at source. Contractors will not be able to claim tax advantages such as business expense deductions. Additional Information: This is a site-based role, with occasional meetings and coordination at Stafford or other project locations. Candidates should be prepared to adhere to company policies and working hours similar to a permanent employee, due to the Inside IR35 status. As the contractor is deemed to be an employee for tax purposes, the contractor will not be entitled to employee benefits such as pensions, sick leave, or holiday pay, unless otherwise specified.
