Senior Design Engineer (Cable System) London or Stowmarket - (Hybrid, Office, Site) Permanent Competitive Salary Car/Car Allowance Flexible Benefits Summary Freedom Professional Services are seeking an experienced Cabling Design Engineer to join our growing team and work on an array of complex and challenging engineering projects, helping to deliver the country’s Net Zero targets. Our projects span the complete energy system from generation, transmission, distribution and storage to load-end consumers in manufacturing, processing, data and recycling. The successful candidate will be able to evidence a history of teamworking, career achievement, high-quality project and work experience to date, and can draw on their professional networks to gain key insights, new work leads, third-party support and second opinions. Some of the key deliverables in this role will include: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate cabling designs into broader project frameworks Undertake cable system design, studies and calculations to relevant BSEN/IEC/National Grid/DNO/ ENA C55/5 standards and practices Provide input into cable routing feasibility and detailed design studies working with other members of the Professional Services Team, taking local planning, traffic management, environmental and client requirements into account, while developing the most economical cable system design Responsible for leading work in your area and delivering on time, to a high degree of accuracy in line with Freedom’s quality standards, undertaking self-checks and working with your colleagues to peer check where necessary. Support your area in generating sales leads, undertaking sales origination, and passing sales-related information to senior partners and business development managers (BDMs), acting as the sales single point of contact (PoC) for your team/discipline, when appointed by the team lead. Support Design Preconstruction Managers & Senior Partners, you will be jointly responsible for selection, negotiation, development, management and execution of contracts in your area. Use project management techniques to manage resources, budgets and programmes, accurately estimating work, conducting stakeholder management (internal & external), and acting as quality lead in your area. Ensuring you are up to date with industry standards and practice, and maintaining a high-level of independence to complete engineering design work. You will be technically self-sufficient, working to maintain and improve your technical knowledge base Contribute to the continuing development of company standard quality systems to ensure compliance with current industry standards, and to ensure best possible practice at all times. What we’re looking for : Senior engineers that join our team will need to have diverse skill sets to bring technical, ethical, social and management competence to every job that we work on, for all of our professional clients and key stakeholders. Strong budgetary and project management skills are required at this level, accompanied by good commercial knowledge of design and construction contract forms such as NEC, and experience of working withing the contract conditions. The business proactively encourages chartership in engineering, and senior engineers are expected to be chartered or close to achieving chartership. You must have Qualifications and experience in: Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferable) Chartered Engineer (or working towards) A sound understanding of cable system design A good level of experience of working in the industry for the key duties and responsibilities mentioned. Good understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations & ESQCR Full UK Driving License 11kV up to 400kV detailed design experience.
