Ruby’s is a charity based in Cheshire East. We have over 15 years’ experience of supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), their families and carers. Ruby’s purpose is to provide life changing support and facilities for children with SEND and their families who live in Cheshire East. We have a blended offer of public and SEND specific and commissioned sessions at our sensory centre in Congleton and across Cheshire East.
Job Description
JOB TITLE: SEND Worker
SALARY: up to £13.50ph depending upon experience
CONTRACT: 12-month fixed term subject to satisfactory 6-month probationary period
HOURS: 14 hours per week which usually includes Mondays 9.30am – 6.30pm, Wednesday 9.15-2.45pm plus one Saturday per month. Cover for occasional out of hours sessions to cover holidays and sickness are required.
LOCATION: Ruby’s Sensory Centre with travel across Cheshire East
DBS CHECK REQUIRED: Enhanced with Barring List update

Under the direction and guidance of the SEND Service & Impact Lead, the post holder will work independently and as part of a team to provide high quality targeted and coordinated programmes of support aligning with the charity’s purpose of providing life changing support for children with SEND and their families.

Duties & Responsibilities include:
* Develop strong professional relationships with the children and families we support
* Work with children one to one or in small groups as part of Ruby’s Short Break and Siblings offer
* Contribute to timetable and session planning including risk assessments in accordance with regulations and requirements
* Responsible for managing own workload and demonstrate excellent communication skills including record keeping using our CRM Charitylog database
* Always maintain confidentiality whilst upholding GDPR and Data Protection laws
* Be the duty SEND worker at the centre as allocated
* Create promotional content for sessions to increase engagement
* Regular reception meet & greet duties: including using the till, handling phone calls and signposting using website in a confident and professional manner
* Contribute to charity KPI’s as required by data gathering via surveys and feedback to help us make changes and help to shape our future plans
* Follow all Ruby’s policies and procedures at all times
* Be responsible for checking own rota, completing monthly timesheets, holiday requests and expense claims following organisational policies and procedures.
* To report back to the line manager as required with the information relating to safeguarding concerns, quality of provision and anything deemed necessary
* Attending staff meetings as required
* Support volunteers in their volunteering role at Ruby’s
* Be an ambassador by representing Ruby’s at external events in a professional manner
* Support the Fundraising Team with events on an occasional and adhoc basis
* Ensure that the agreed high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained
* To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time-to-time by the Leadership Team and Board.

Education and Qualifications
* Maths Level 2 qualification or equivalent (E)
* English Level 2 qualification or equivalent (E)
* Current first aid and safeguarding training or a willingness to undertake (E)
* SEND, Child centred or family support qualification (D)
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a role working with children with SEND or their families in a family support or similar role (E)
* Knowledge of local authority, third sector and national services offers for SEND (E)
* Experienced in health and safety and completing risk assessments (D)
* The willingness and ability to work flexibly and outside of normal office hours if required (E)
* Experience of organising, planning, and undertaking own work, including appropriate record keeping (E)
* Demonstrate a good understanding of Safeguarding and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (E)
