Job Advertisement: SEND Teaching Assistant Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and empathetic SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Wilmslow. This is a full-time position starting in January and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the opportunity for the role to become permanent based on performance. About the Role: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. Working closely with teachers and the school’s SEN team, you will help create an inclusive learning environment that enables students to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND, including those with learning difficulties, autism, sensory impairments, or social, emotional, and mental health needs. Assist in the delivery of tailored learning interventions and ensure lesson content is accessible for all students. Support students in managing challenges, promoting positive behavior and emotional resilience in line with school policies. Collaborate with teachers to adapt lesson plans and resources to meet individual needs. Monitor student progress and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies. Build positive relationships with students, fostering trust and encouraging confidence and independence. Assist during non-classroom activities, such as break times and extracurricular sessions, to ensure students feel supported throughout the school day. What We’re Looking For: The ideal candidate will: Have experience working with children or young people with SEND in an educational or care setting. Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting students’ well-being and development. Be adaptable, proactive, and able to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals. Possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Have relevant qualifications or experience in a similar role (desirable but not essential). Be available full-time from January through to the end of the academic year.
