Purpose of Position: Coordinates total nursing care for patients in the above listed setting. Participates in patient and family teaching, pre, intra and post procedure. Demonstrates leadership abilities by working cooperatively with all patient care team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing standards.
Description:
1. Practices according to entity mandatory requirements.
2. Practices according to department expectations and according to best practice standards of care.
3. Practices with a Customer Service approach to all activities.
4. Participates in ongoing Performance Improvement programs.
5. Cares for patients utilizing the nursing process, with an interdisciplinary approach.
6. Provides effective patient and family teaching throughout the spectrum of care, initiating discharge planning at time of admission.
7. Assesses patients for actual and potential problems and updates assessments continually.
8. Documents the patients’ diagnoses which are derived from health assessment, history and interviews.
9. Administers medications safely, to include moderate sedation within hospital guidelines under the direction of the physician.
10. Manages the patient with pain.
11. Utilizes chemical and physical restraints per policy.
12. Identifies signs and symptoms of neglect/abuse and reports as required by law.
13. Cares for terminally ill patient and family, respective of patient’s advance directives.
14. Addresses age-specific needs of infants, toddlers, school age, adolescents, adults, older adults.
15. Performs cardiovascular assessment.
16. Assesses the physical, mental and psychosocial status of patients.
17. Assists physicians with minor/local surgical procedures to include pain management interventions.
18. Assists physicians with gastroenterology procedures to include but not limited to colonoscopy with polypectomy, biopsy, splinting patient’s abdominal wall during colonoscopy, esophageal dilations, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, bandings and electrocautery procedures to include argon plasma coagulation, clipping and subcutaneous injections.
19. Performs pre and post procedure phone calls.
20. Provides care of the post procedure patient.
21. Maintains appropriate licenses, certifications, registrations required to perform duties of their designated role/position.
22. Demonstrates proficiency in computerized nursing informatics.

Qualifications:
* Must read, write and communicate in English.
* Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
* Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
* BLS certification.
* Successful passage of FH’s pharmacology exam.
* Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Program or challenge exam.
* ACLS within three months.
* Moderate Sedation certification within three months.
* Minimum of 2 to 3 years of current (within the last 5 years) Endoscopy experience.
Schedule Details: 48PP FLEX (16/24 hrs per week), Rot. Days/Eves, 7a-3p, 7:30a-3:30p, 8a-4p, 8:30a-4:30p or 9a-5p, Occ. Holidays & No Weekends, On Call required in rotation.
