Our team
Data Governance and Control is a dynamic, exciting team who work closely with all areas of Virgin Money. The team plays a vital role supporting the embedding of a robust 1st line Data Privacy and Data Management framework across Virgin Money. No two days are the same – you could be reviewing a Data Privacy Impact Assessment with a project, updating a Privacy Notice, assessing a data breach, or coming up with process improvements for the maintenance of our Record of Processing Activity.
What you will be doing
Reviewing a wide variety and volume of Data Privacy Impact Assessments on behalf of projects, business areas and supplier relationship managers to identify potential risks.
Reviewing and maintaining records of processing activities.
Assessing level of risk and materiality of personal data breaches, engaging with the Data Protection Office where necessary and working with business areas to identify root cause and ensure appropriate corrective action.
Updating and maintaining Privacy Notices to ensure they remain accurate and up to date.
Identifying and implementing Data Privacy process improvements for the team.
Monitoring relevant mailboxes to liaise with and provide advice to the business.
We need you to have
In depth experience of working within a first- or second-line Data Protection and Privacy function and track record of applying DPA, UK GDPR and PECR knowledge in such a function.
Experience of reviewing and approving complex Data Privacy Impact Assessments including experience of handling AI change.
A demonstrable track record in continuous process improvement, adding value through management reporting.
Experience of supporting projects and business areas in understanding privacy risks and controls to embed privacy by design.
Strong communicator with an ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
Adaptable, flexible, and able to deliver under pressure to meet demands.
It’s a bonus if you have but not essential
Related experience in Banking or Financial Services.
Data Protection and Privacy associated qualification or professional accreditations.
Experience of maintaining fair processing notices / privacy notices and ROPAs.
Experience of working within a matrix management structure.

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. These include credit and criminal record checks and three years' worth of satisfactory references.
