Dorset Council has secured additional funding from the AfEO (Accommodation for Ex-Offenders) programme. The funding is targeted to assertively reduce the number of ex-offenders leaving prison without accommodation or losing their accommodation in the community. The aim is to reduce reoffending and improve outcomes for prison release cases. You will be working with ex-offenders to help them to secure and then sustain accommodation, as well as link in with tailored support services. You will build local pathways and processes for this cohort to allow them to access accommodation and avoid becoming homeless. This will also improve the dignity, life chances, health and wellbeing of vulnerable people who have been homeless and are being resettled into permanent housing. The postholder will work to: Work with landlords to help increase the sources of move on accommodation that could be considered by this cohort and help with resettlement once sourced. Provide assertive sustainment work to clients with an offending background to enable them to regain and retain stable and sustainable accommodation by providing a specialist, high-quality person-centered tenancy sustainment service that helps clients to meet the barriers to managing their tenancy and moving forward positively with their lives. Work proactively and collaboratively with the accommodation team and other partners involved in delivering accommodation for ex-offenders to ensure that client’s receive the help that they need to thrive in their accommodation. Assist customers to sustain their accommodation, resolve any breaches of the tenancy agreement and support customers to ensure payment and compliance with the tenancy agreement.
