Finance Manager – Colne - £40k - £45k + excellent benefits
We are currently seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our client’s team in Colne and lead a small finance department. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the financial operations of a thriving, family-run business.
As the Finance Manager, you will report directly to the Managing Director and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial management. You will manage a small finance team and ensure the efficient operation of the company’s financial processes. The working hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday to Thursday and a 2:30 pm finish on Fridays.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and annual budgets.
• Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to support business decision-making.
• Manage the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the company’s financial stability.
• Running the stock valuation report monthly and posting the stock movement journal to SAGE
• Checking the stock valuation for unusually high movements and investigating them.
• Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Develop and improve financial processes and systems for greater efficiency and accuracy.
• Looking into anomalies and correcting nominal mis-postings with journals.
• Support the senior leadership team with financial insights and strategic planning.
• Mentor and support the development of the finance team, ensuring their continued growth and performance.
• Conduct regular reviews of financial risks and implement effective controls to mitigate them.
• Oversee tax filings, VAT returns, and compliance with HMRC regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Proven experience in a finance management role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred).
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Excellent knowledge of UK tax regulations, VAT, and payroll processes.
• Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge or previous experience working with Subcontractor CIS.
