Description About the role Maintenance Team Cormac are seeking a number of Chargehand and Operatives to become part of our team delivering highway maintenance services to the residents of Cornwall. We are looking for applicants across the whole of Cornwall but particularly in the central and eastern regions, such as Bodmin, Saltash, Launceston and Bude. You will be required to undertake a variety of manual tasks associated with highway maintenance as part of a team, your responsibilities will include: Carrying out minor highway works such as pothole repairs, kerb repairs and other similar work Maintaining highway drainage Providing or assisting with traffic management Vegetation clearance The use of small plant and machinery such as strimmers, disc saws, plate compactors etc Using constructed related materials such as asphalt and concrete Alternatively, if you would like to discuss any of the roles, please contact our recruitment team. About you We are looking for a candidate who: Has a good general awareness of health and safety Has previous experience in undertaking manual tasks Is prepared to work in an outdoors environment, sometimes in adverse weather conditions Holds a driving license, experience of driving 3.5t and 7.5t vehicles would be desirable Holds a CSCS card or is willing to obtain one Has experience operating small, powered equipment such as disc cutters, petrol breakers, and plate compactors (useful but not essential) Is willing to learn and progress within the company If you meet these qualifications and are ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role, we would love to hear from you.
