Bring your experience of cancer, either as a patient or a carer, to provide impartial assessments of cancer care environments across the UK against the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) standards. Together, we can be right there for people with cancer.
What will you be doing?
* Attending assessments with a professional assessor as arranged
* Making notes of their observations and sharing these with the professional assessor
* Listening and talking to cancer facility staff
* Meeting patients and service users, if required
* Contributing to the assessment report and checking that it can be understood by other people with an interest in the cancer facility
The skills you need
* Capacity for impartial and critical analysis of a cancer care environment against the MQEM standards
* Ability to feedback the findings of the assessment clearly and diplomatically
* Ability to talk to facility staff and service users and be sensitive to their needs
* Ability to distinguish fact from opinion
* The capacity to make sound judgements
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
