Job Description
Main responsibilities:
1. Analysing raw materials, intermediate products, finished products and process chemicals, ensuring all data is recorded in the appropriate systems.
2. Assessing compliance with specification of materials and advising on their suitability for use. Organising additional investigative measures and interpretation of data in the event of non-compliance.
3. Ensuring compliance with all ADM standards and procedures.
4. Ensuring all work is conducted safely at all times in accordance with legislation and ADM requirements.
5. Maintenance, calibration and operation of laboratory equipment, ensuring correct functioning and troubleshooting where necessary for the site.
6. When required, involvement in analytical method development and delivery of training as appropriate for the site.
7. Provision of support for product development activities when required.
8. Ensuring appropriate stocks of chemical and disposable goods are maintained, including ordering and associated administration.
9. Ensuring effective communication of all relevant data and issues between shifts and with the various process departments.
10. Participation in general improvement activities outside of the laboratory function and working collaboratively with operation colleagues (e.g., internal audits).
Qualification and experience:
1. A degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline.
2. Good working understanding of ICP, HPLC, GC and GCMS.
3. Knowledge and experience of GLP and current health and safety standards relevant to laboratory operations.
4. Ideally, experience working within a manufacturing environment.
5. Ideally, some experience of QA related activities.
Physical Requirements:
1. The job is a shift (8 or 10 hour) day work role based in the Pura laboratories covering the period 06.00 to 23.00 hrs Monday to Friday.
2. Provision for covering for shifts is required (predominately day shifts, although transfer to the full 24/7 12 hour shift system may be required at times, e.g., in the event of long term sickness).
3. The job holder is required to be on call for weekend day cover for 22 designated weekends per year.
4. The jobholder will be required to work with a range of chemicals.
5. There will also be a degree of manual handling.
6. The job holder may be required to travel on occasions, including overseas.
