Position Experimental Manufacturing Engineer (Non Product) Shift Pattern - Rotating shifts as follows: DAYS Mon - Thurs - 06:00 - 14:00 (30 minute unpaid break) Fri - 06:00 - 13:30 (30 minute unpaid break) LATES Mon - Thurs - 13:45 - 21:45 (30 minute unpaid break) Fri - 13:00 - 20:30 (30 minute unpaid break) Location Gillingham, Kent Position Overview To be able to use standard manual workshop machines to produce components to supplied drawings. To be able to assemble engine rigs for in house testing. Roles & Responsibilities To adhere to the companies policies, standards and procedures including safety, quality, environment, and beliefs To follow department work requests To provide clear status on task progress and workload To participate in team meetings as applicable To carry out engineering tasks using manually operated machines and hand tools. To use a variety of measuring equipment. To conduct front line maintenance and basic fault diagnosis within the limits of training on equipment used. Designing and manufacturing of fabricated components using Gas, MIG, TIG, Plasma cutting sheet cutter and bending equipment Stripping, rebuilding, and modifying prototype diesel engines Fitting various fuel injection equipment to engine, including, pumps, injectors, low pressure fuel systems and high-pressure common rail systems. Skills Mandatory Ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications. Ability to understand GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) Ability to utilise a variety of manufacturing and assembly techniques. Ability to use a variety of measuring techniques and types of equipment. Desirable Familiar with use of CAD models/ Solid Works or similar. Good IT skills e.g., Microsoft Office Ability to use and program CNC machining centres. Ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision A high degree of motivation to achieve company aims Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels Desirable GibbsCAM CAD/CAM software or similar PC-based computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) system for programming computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools. Experienced in the manufacture to high precision tolerances. Data collection to qualify products / components as part of a quality system.
