This role offers more challenge and creativity than usual bicycle mechanic roles, and often outside a workshop setting.

* Location: Bristol and surrounding area (with workshop HQ in Easton)
* Pension scheme available
* Annual leave: 20 days PA, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure
* Duration: Permanent

Taylored Cycles Ltd is a dynamic, evolving Bristol based mobile bicycle mechanic business. We work all over Bristol and as far afield as Bath, Yate and Weston-Super-Mare. We have been operating since 2007, and hold preferred supplier agreements with Bristol City Council, Bristol University, University of the West of England and other organisations.
We are looking for a bicycle mechanic to work in very varied situations – your role will be to solve the needs of our customers in situations including:
* Repairing and servicing all types of bikes in a large van, set up as a mobile workshop.
* Checking over and carrying out minor adjustments on all types of bikes, at events in various indoor and outdoor locations.
* Repairing and servicing all types of bikes in a fully equipped workshop.
* Dr Bike sessions at schools and offices.
There are also opportunities to do more varied tasks, such as:
* Train customers on their bicycle maintenance skills in a group setting.
* Drive the broom wagon for corporate and charity bike rides, through the Somerset countryside and further afield.
* Develop and deliver private training sessions at our workshop.
* Other business development activities – we want someone to bring their own ideas, and the agency to deliver them!
You’ll need to be a real people person; able to communicate to people the issues with their bikes clearly, in a language that they understand and recommend solutions. We are looking for someone who is able to speak to anyone anywhere in a positive and friendly manner. It’s more important to us that your customer service skills are top notch than your mechanic skills. You’ll be working with very experienced mechanics, and we can support the development of top level mechanic skills if needed.
We are looking for someone who has a desire to assist with and contribute to the development of Taylored Cycles in the future. The company has evolved a lot over the years and we want the right person to help drive the next chapter. We would like to employ a future senior leader within Taylored Cycles.
A majority of the time you will be working independently, and the ability to represent the company to a consistently high standard is very important. We will need you to maintain the high levels of professionalism for which Taylored Cycles has become known. You will need to be absolutely reliable and a real team player, helping out your colleagues whenever and however possible and manage your own workload throughout the day.
Your initiative and problem-solving abilities will be regularly tested when dealing with the widely varying problems that people present to you with their bicycles. Your willingness to get stuck in, suggest new ways of working and contributing to developing the business will be rewarded.
