Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Ark Kings Academy Primary About the employer: The Primary Phase begins in Nursery and continues into Reception, where we take in 30 pupils each year. All pupils in Year 6 receive an automatic place in Year 7 of our Secondary Phase. Overview of role: This Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship is a structured program designed to support the development of practical skills and knowledge needed to assist in educational settings effectively. Apprentices work alongside class teachers to provide academic and social support for pupils, contributing to their well-being and personal development. Key details: Hours: Monday to Friday (8.30am to 4.15pm, Please note on Tuesdays you will work from 9.30am to 5pm), 36 hours per week Term-time only (39 weeks per year) Wage: £6.40 per hour Location: Ark Kings Academy Primary, Tees Grove, Birmingham, West Midlands, B38 9DH Apprenticeship details: Qualification: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification Duration of course: 16 months Training Provider: LMP Education (Rated No 1 Training Provider in the UK) All learning delivered online/ remotely alongside role. Full Duties and Responsibilities: Support pupil learning through specific learning programmes, setting high expectations while fostering independence and building confidence. Promote inclusion by encouraging pupils to interact and work collaboratively. Collaborate with the SENCO and other teachers to assess individual children's needs and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Adapt and develop resources for EAL and SEND pupils, ensuring their safety and curriculum accessibility. Assist with follow-up for related services such as speech, language, or physical therapy. Mentor students individually and in groups, planning and leading intervention and booster sessions to address challenging topics. Observe, record, and provide feedback on pupil performance. Assist in creating materials for curriculum delivery and classroom displays. Support whole-class teaching as needed. Use strategies, in consultation with the teacher, to assist in behavior management and support pupils’ learning objectives. Assist pupil achievement outside the classroom, e.g., in the computer lab or library. Act as a Key Worker for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD). Work with students individually or in small groups, both in and out of lessons. Plan and implement strategies for students on the Pastoral Support Programme, ensuring adherence to behavioral norms. Develop resources tailored for students with SEN. Support for the School Supervise pupils during breaks in playgrounds, lunchrooms, etc., and assist with general pastoral care. Accompany teachers and pupils on trips and out-of-school activities, taking responsibility for pupils under teacher supervision. Other Responsibilities Actively promote the safety and welfare of children and young people. Ensure compliance with Ark’s data protection rules and procedures. Liaise confidently, tactfully, and diplomatically with colleagues and external contacts at all levels of seniority. Collaborate with Ark Central and other academies within the Ark network to establish and share good practices, offering support where required.
