As a Senior HR Adviser you’ll be responsible for the design, development and implementation of a wide range of HR policies, procedures, guidance and processes. We provide a comprehensive HR service to a range of customers, including internal and external stakeholders and partners, ensuring the focus is on delivering innovative and risk aware business solutions. About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to take on the acting up role of a Senior HR Adviser within the HR Strategy & OD Team, for a period of six months. The successful postholder will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of a wide range of HR policies, procedures, guidance and processes. Delivering a comprehensive HR service to a range of customers, including internal and external stakeholders and partners, ensuring the focus is on delivering innovative and risk aware business solutions. You will be required to undertake line management, contribute to planning for the team and be a key point of contact for the HR Advisers on complex and high-profile matters. Leading on informal and formal consultation/negotiation with Trade Unions with regard of policy and procedure and proactively identifying areas for improvement and development which will make positive changes within the service and for the organisation. The role is varied with a high degree of autonomy; you will have an influential role in driving HR innovation to ensure continuous improvement and legislative compliance at a time of significant employment law change. Key attributes are your ability to communicate and negotiate effectively, to work with positivity and resilience when involved with complex problem solving and excellent organisational skills with attention to detail. You will also need to be adaptable and compassionate, with a collaborative and inclusive approach. About You To apply for this post, you must: Have a relevant Degree or professional/management qualification OR relevant and significant operational experience. Demonstrate experience of delivering an HR service in a fast paced and challenging environment and effective communication skills using a range of communication methods Have a knowledge/understanding of Local Government Terms and Conditions, employment and case law and evidence of applying this in live cases. Be able to evidence examples of taking a lead or key role in the design and development of HR policies, guidance and products. Have experience of line management, OR an ability to demonstrate how you would transition into a management role. Experience of proactively identifying areas for improvement and taking action to make changes and successfully working with and influencing Trade Unions and/or employee representatives. Be able to manage conflicting priorities to ensure tasks are completed and deadlines are met. You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
