As the Principal Highways Engineer, you will be the lead designer in a team of professional engineers and technicians. You will ensure the feasibility, design, and delivery of various highway engineering services for internal and external clients. Key responsibilities include: Be the lead designer for the Highway Maintenance and Improvements team. Manage capital projects and prepare detailed highway schemes. Provide technical and professional advice to stakeholders. Develop innovative strategies to meet future development needs. Manage contractors and support a team of engineers and technicians Financially monitor projects and use specialist software like AutoCAD. Making technical decisions regarding the impact and delivery of engineering schemes. Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. To qualify, you will need a relevant degree in an engineering discipline, significant experience in managing and designing complex highway improvement projects, experience working with external consultants, contractors and private developers, and strong technical ability and professional judgement.
