Applications are invited from experienced phlebotomists to work within the established phlebotomy team at the Furness General Hospital.
You will work within the Team to ensure the provision of a phlebotomy service to inpatient wards and pathology clinic.
This is an interesting position, and you will be joining a team which provides a service combining a unique mix of duties in a busy but friendly department.
Normal working hours are 20 per week.
We are therefore delighted to offer this great opportunity for a Phlebotomist to take up this post working in a highly successful, modern department delivering outstanding results.
Main duties of the job
Phlebotomists are responsible for the collection of blood by venepuncture for a wide range of pathological analysis.
Work is managed on a daily basis not directly supervised.
The post holder will work as part of a team to ensure Clinical Accreditation is maintained.
The post holder will comply with local and national policies for the safe and secure processing of patient information.
Under the direction of the phlebotomy supervisor or the Head of Pathology Services you will be responsible for ensuring that a high quality service is delivered to the Morecambe Bay Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and other users of the service.
All duties will be performed to a professional standard directed by National, Trust and pathology service policies and procedures.
Person specification
* 3 GCSEs or equivalent to include English
* Phlebotomy experience in a hospital or community setting
* Evidence of recent venepuncture skills
* Computer and keyboard skills
* Evidence of good communication skills
* Proficiency in English language
* Ability to travel as required
* Evidence of team working skills
* Awareness of health and safety
* Evidence of written skills
