Job Description
IKM Testing in Aberdeen have an exciting opportunity for an engineer to join their Methane Emissions Quantification (MEQ) team. We are looking for an individual who has the mindset to develop client relationships and get involved in the growth of this business.
In this unique role, you will work within the MEQ team delivering IKM’s aerial and source measurement service both on and offshore. Work will involve sales and tender support; the creation of up-front job design, operational procedures and delivery of onsite drone based and direct measurement MEQ surveys. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate to obtain their drone pilot’s licence.
You will also get involved in our innovation projects, supporting the company’s aim of ‘Challenging Convention – Inspiring Innovation’. Within these projects new ideas and technologies are considered to improve our service delivery or bring new services to the market. These projects touch on all areas of the business, currently involving: AI, software, and especially the renewables market as we look to expand our offering from the traditional O&G service lines.
To be considered, you should ideally have an engineering qualification and background; be flexible with a practical mindset; be enthusiastic to challenge and question convention; have a willingness to travel offshore and internationally.
Roles and Responsibilities
Project Engineer: Developments / Operations
Developments
* Owner and Focal Point for engineered innovation 'Development Projects'. These may be:
- Operations, Engineering, Hardware, Software, Methods, Techniques.
* Builds Development Project plans and ensures timely progression.
* Ensures project data is filed and recorded consistently and in an accessible manner.
* Project stakeholder definition and communications.
* Ensures all activities aligned with IKM Testing Ltd. Quality Management and Business Management Systems.
* Internal and, where necessary, external presentation of projects.
* Continuously and proactively engages and encourages IKM personnel to communicate ideas for innovation, and to take part in Development Projects.
* Committed to Quality, Innovation and Operational Excellence.
Operations
* Preparation of Project documentation and reports.
* Assist with preparation of tenders including preparation of method statements, equipment lists and pricing schedules.
* Act as project focal point for both the customer and internal stakeholders.
* Co-ordinate and monitor job performance.
* Responsible for overseeing daily site operations.
* Develop and maintain customer relationships.
* Proactively generate departmental or company-wide improvement ideas and log within the Energy Transition Dept Improvement Idea Tracker
* Define all operational requirements contained within the project contract and verify that all actions are performed in accordance with procedures and deadlines.
* Attend client visits to provide technical support to Business Development.
* Plan and monitor progress against deadlines and amendments of work packs / procedures / Management of Change.
* Encourage and develop team relationships.
* Ensure compliance with Quality and HSE Management System by ensuring that all operational requirements are performed / completed in accordance with agreed procedures.
* Adhere to Company’s policies and procedures.
* Willing to complete offshore visits and travel where required.
* General
* To carry out your duties and responsibilities in accordance with any and all Company Policies, protocols, procedures, risk assessments and systems (including emergency and incident routines) as well as specific site assignment instruction/requirements.
* Travel to other IKM office.
* Travel to onshore/offshore worksite, carrying out duties under direction.
* Adhering to Company’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications Required (Technical, Professional, Academic)
Essential:
* Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
Preferred:
* Master’s degree in a relevant subject/discipline
Experience Required
Essential:
* Demonstrated leadership in engineering projects.
* Highly developed creative problem-solving skillset.
* Demonstrated ability to achieve stated objectives with minimal direction and supervision alone or as part of a team.
Preferred:
* Industrial experience in an engineering/operational setting (energy sector).
* Understanding of Total Quality Management (TQM) principles in engineering.
* Project management: knowledge of project processes, organisation & structure.
Personal Skills

* Willing to complete offshore visits/Work on site onshore and offshore when required.
