Our new partnership enables the expansion of life-saving stem cell collection services in the UK and creates opportunities to develop research programmes in the future.
As the Apheresis Specialist Nurse, you will be based at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, within the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre, hosted by the Clinical Research Facility.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with the Apheresis Nurse Manager and the CCC Lead Nurse to provide all aspects of clinical care for patients and stem cell donors.
You will work as part of a highly skilled specialist team acting as a source of clinical expertise.
1. Clinical Practice
1. Take responsibility for the care of donors/patients requiring specialist apheresis procedures under the guidance of the Apheresis Nurse Manager.
2. Competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner within the speciality ensuring the provision of excellent, evidence-based nursing care for donors/patients.
3. Deliver the apheresis service on behalf of Anthony Nolan, in accordance with apheresis service guidelines and assess, treat and refer donors/patients to other members of the clinical team as required.
4. Remain current and up to date with clinical protocols and best practice, maintaining specialist knowledge of apheresis.
5. Be competent in the care and management of peripheral venous catheters, central venous catheters, venepuncture, cannulation, intravenous drug administration, apheresis and blood product administration in accordance with the guidelines for clinical practice.
6. Ensure all elements of the donor/patient clinical pathway are understood and delivered successfully, including safe administration of treatments and medications.

Training and Qualification
* First level registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)
Experience
* Post-registration clinical experience in apheresis practices and procedures.

If you are aged 16 or 17 and applying for a role that is more than 20 hours a week, please be aware that you will be asked to commence an Apprenticeship within the Trust alongside your role, as long as there is a suitable apprenticeship standard available. This is in line with the current guidance in England that whilst young people under the age of 18 can leave school (on the last Friday in June) they must then do one of the following:
* Stay in full-time education, for example at a college
* Start an Apprenticeship
* Spend 20 hours or more a week working or volunteering, while in part-time education or training
Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part-time workers.
