Hours: 8.30am - 4pm approximately
Salary: £19,500 - £23,400

What is a Reading Mentor?
As a Reading Mentor, you'll work 1:1/small groups with primary children who need extra support to improve their reading skills. You'll help them discover the joy of books, build their confidence, and develop a lifelong love of reading. Whether it's through storytelling, phonics, or simply sharing your enthusiasm for literature, you'll play a vital role in shaping their future.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver engaging interventions to aid progress.
2. Feed progress back to the Class Teacher and parents.
3. Be creative with activities and materials to suit different learning styles.
4. Promote reading for pleasure.
5. Support SLT with extra-curricular activities such as book clubs, reading incentives, and book fairs.
Requirements:
1. A UK degree in an academic subject. Core subjects are desirable.
2. Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
3. Previous experience working with children is highly desirable.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Patience, empathy, and the ability to inspire and motivate children.
6. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
7. Interest in teacher training.
