Location: Manchester (Hybrid) Salary: £75,000 We are working with an innovative technology company that provides unique and actionable data solutions to top brands and partners worldwide. They are looking for a Tech Team Lead to join their Portal Team, where you will lead a small group of PHP and JavaScript/TypeScript engineers. This team is responsible for building and maintaining customer and staff portals, along with the APIs that power them. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Take ownership of technical direction, ensuring high-quality code and best practices. Work on frontend development using JavaScript and TypeScript in Angular (with a transition to Vue.js). Manage the backend, which is primarily built using PHP (Laravel). Oversee the operational management of services, including security patching, service uptime, and performance. Implement AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, and RDS, using Serverless Framework, CloudFormation, and Terraform. Balance incoming development requests, maintenance schedules, and technical debt while ensuring smooth project delivery. Contribute to the company’s on-call team (with additional compensation after an initial settling-in period). Work closely with engineering, testing, and user experience teams. About You We’re looking for a strong technical leader with: Expertise in PHP (Laravel) and JavaScript/TypeScript (Angular or Vue.js). Experience with AWS and Serverless technologies (Lambda, SQS, etc.). A deep understanding of system architecture, security best practices (ISO 27001), and coding standards. Strong leadership and communication skills to mentor a team and interact with non-technical stakeholders. Experience in defining technical specifications based on customer requirements. The ability to optimise SQL queries for large datasets. A proactive and organised approach to managing projects and development schedules. Bonus Skills (Nice to Have) Previous experience leading a development team and supporting team growth. Experience building privacy-centric applications. Knowledge of optimising SQL queries for large data sets. A track record of successfully steering technical projects. Why Join?
