Overview: We are currently looking for a Tax Manager to join a well-established and niche accountancy firm. As a Tax Manager, you will work closely with clients to manage complex tax matters, provide expert advice, and ensure the smooth coordination of services. You will also play a key role in managing a portfolio of clients and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
11. Handle complex tax matters and provide clear, concise advice to clients.
12. Work directly with clients to understand their specific needs and requirements.
13. Identify areas where additional detailed advice may be necessary and ensure that it is provided promptly.
14. Collaborate with internal teams (Accounts, Business Management, Payroll) to ensure client affairs are well-coordinated and delivered on time.
15. Identify opportunities for offering additional services to clients and liaise with subject matter specialists to provide relevant solutions.
16. Manage HMRC inquiries on behalf of clients, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
17. Take responsibility for the management of a portfolio of clients, ensuring full compliance with tax regulations.
18. Provide guidance and assistance to junior team members, fostering their growth and development.
19. Manage billing for clients within your portfolio, ensuring timely and accurate debt collection.
20. Participate in internal tax technical training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
Attributes & Requirements:
21. A professional qualification (CTA or equivalent) is essential. A private client background would be advantageous but not essential.
22. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment, managing workloads and meeting tight deadlines.
23. Strong technical tax research skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to clients.
24. Experience in reviewing self-assessment tax returns.
25. Excellent organisational skills to manage time, monitor charges, and maintain budgets effectively.
26. Commitment to maintaining a high level of technical knowledge.
27. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
28. Self-motivated and able to apply relevant skills to new challenges.
29. Capable of working under pressure with accuracy and focus.
