Senior Manufacturing Engineer HOURS: Full time/perm - 38 hours per week (Mon – Thurs: 8hrs/ Fri: 6 hrs – finish early)
Hingham, Norfolk (NR9) – Office based role
We are looking for a manufacturing engineer who has strong experience within a manufacturing/production environment, preferably but not essentially in the aerospace or automotive industry. You will be responsible for the development, testing, and continuous improvement of commercial aerospace products and the manufacturing assembly processes. You will be able to apply your expertise to optimize the safety, performance, efficiency, yield, and cost of our products and processes using Lean Sigma and APQP methodologies.
Supporting multiple new product development (NPD) Projects you will lead DFM/A, PFMEA, production readiness reviews and the design and implementation of lean manufacturing cells to ensure production viability on launch.
In your role as our Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
Ensure production readiness of new product development programs, leading readiness reviews and planning activities to support.
Manufacturing Engineering requirements with DFM/A, APQP and project execution throughout NPD/I Process
the design, manufacture and introduction of tooling and assembly aids
expertise and support in driving continuous improvement throughout to optimize the performance of our products and processes using Lean Sigma and APQP methodologies
process and performance optimisation activity to achieve manufacturing cost reductions and quality improvement.
and reduce operational risk using structured tools and techniques.
the Production operations with system improvements and continue to create a lean manufacturing culture
process performance and development improvement projects using DMAIC approach
in process-writing tasks, using interlocked and error proofing process control systems

Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as Automotive / Aerospace OEM or First Tier supplier or equivalent industries as a Manufacturing / Production engineer
Experience of working within a team to meet set deliverables within a manufacturing / production department.
Practical working knowledge in the application and implementation of lean manufacturing
Experienced in the facilitation and delivery of industrial risk management tools i.Design for Manufacture, Assembly, Cost)
Experienced in conducting PPR’s and the effective communication / presentation of results and actions in project Gate reviews.
Practical working knowledge of Robotics and Automation including operational programming.
Project / Program Management Experience
Ability to evaluate, develop and improve existing Production processes.
Technical experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification (university degree) and/or background in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical)
Or a relevant (IMechE) or (IET) qualification / Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training.
