Due to a significant and exciting project award, on behalf of our client we are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be based remotely and from Jersey.
The ability to travel and lodge away is an essential requirement for this role. If you are unable to fullfill this part of the role, Thank you for your interest but your application will unfortunately not be suitable.
The role;
Working within the project’s senior leadership team and directly reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial control, contractual matters, assisting in the management, and should be able to effectively manage surveyors and or assistant surveyors to successfully deliver the required works on this project.
Responsibilities include;
Ensuring the project is delivered to required commercial and contractual constraints.
Providing commercial support to the project team.
Chairing various progress, client, subcontractor and consultant meetings.
Maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
Liaise with internal and external parties including the Commercial Manager, the commercial and operational project teams, design teams, external consultants, the client and its representatives on all associated and relevant commercial and contractual matters.
Ensuring robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and divisional business unit level.
Ensure accurate cash flow reporting takes place, be responsible for cost management activities including forecasting, monthly CVRs, cost and commercial plans and have accountability, along with the project team for commercial performance and strategy and ensure that commercial processes are adhered to across the project and divisional business unit.
A strong understanding of the project’s commercial and contractual terms and conditions and identify commercial risk and opportunity.
The suitable individual will ensure that the supply chain are engaged appropriately and cultivate strong client and subcontractor relationships, working with the Commercial Manager, the Senior QS will manage the project commercial team allocated to them, supervise, guide and mentor, have involvement in the recruitment process, regular team reviews, development programmes and disciplinary matters where appropriate.
Core requirements;
Form of contract: NEC4, Option C target cost.
This project will be split in two parts, 1st stage design (approx. £6 to 7m) and 2nd stage build (£60-70m)
Experience in a similar sized Civil Engineering Project preference, or similar sized project. E.g. Marine, ports, civils. This is a marine port project, but there are civil engineering methods such as piling, cofferdams, RC concrete structures and general build principles.
A strong working knowledge/understanding of NEC Values and how it should be administered.
Solid experience of managing subcontractors accounts – tendering, subcontract admin, AFP/Payment process through *to agreeing the Final Account.
