The Staffordshire Health, Safety and Wellbeing Service is a team of professionals encompassing the areas health and safety, fire safety and occupational health. We offer responsive and supportive advice, guidance and training to our services and colleagues within the council and also schools and academies as part of our traded offer. We are seeking two enthusiastic and self-motivated people to join the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Service. There is one permanent full time role and one fixed term 2 year role available. These positions will help to drive the health and safety culture forward within a work environment that offers variety and responsibility across a broad range of services.
You will advise, monitor, and provide practical support to council services, schools and academies. This role will include advising on the risk management arrangements around highways infrastructure and the management of construction and maintenance work alongside other general health and safety support.

Main Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of these roles include
* providing professional health, safety and wellbeing advice and guidance to County Council Service Managers/Head Teachers and customers
* carrying out health, safety and wellbeing audits and providing reports
* the promotion of risk assessment principles and active accident prevention
* contributing to continuously improving standards in line with legislative changes and best practice
* assisting and supporting managers with the development and monitoring of health and safety in their teams
* delivering and assisting in the development of training across all aspects of health and safety
* acting as the key advisor to a nominated areas of responsibility (service, business unit or school)
* Leading on, or participate in, allocated project work
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for you to be qualified at NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent, hold corporate membership of IOSH and have,
* Previous experience within a health and safety role.
* Experience of carrying out audits, inspections, accident investigations and implementing health and safety policies and procedures alongside experience in delivering health and safety training.
* The environment is complex and presents unique challenges, so we are looking for an effective communicator who will be able to influence and use their initiative to ensure health and safety compliance and continual improvement.
This role requires the ability to travel across Staffordshire and occasionally outside of Staffordshire.
