We are seeking
to recruit a Facilities and Laboratory Assistant to join the team at the Botnar Research Centre. As a Facilities and Lab Assistant, you will support the work of the Buildings and Facilities Manager to help maintain the Facilities and services required to ensure the effective and smooth running of the buildings and laboratories. In this role you will contribute to the co-ordination and management of a broad range of essential services and related tasks pertaining to the building as a whole. This will include receiving deliveries arriving at the Botnar Research Centre, informing user groups of goods received and awaiting their collection and/or distribution of items to user groups. You will operate autoclaves, glass washing machines and maintain our water softeners, as well as collect waste from laboratories and deliver to disposal points. You will be responsible for morning checks to ensure that audio-visual equipment in meeting and seminar rooms is operational and, in the absence of IT staff, assist users with AV presentation issues. You must be educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent) and have a proven ability to communicate well in writing and verbally with members of staff at all levels and the general public. You will be computer literate with good keyboard skills and have a proven ability to prioritise tasks. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements (for example COSHH) and will also demonstrate an ability to use initiative and work independently with minimum supervision.Experience of using an autoclave and glass wash machine is desired, as well as knowledge and experience in manual handling at work. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role does not meet the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa under the UK Visa & Immigration points-based system. We are therefore unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
