Job summary It can be difficult to gain employment as a GPN without experience and the appropriate training, therefore we have created the Staffordshire GPN Foundation School to address this directly. We want to support the development of GPNs across the whole of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Supported by NHS England, Queens Nursing Institute, GP Deanery, Staffordshire Integrated Care System and Integrated Care Board, this innovative programme has been designed to provide a standardised pathway into General Practice Nursing suitable for newly qualified nurses and nurses new to General Practice. Main duties of the job This is a trainee GPN position on a 12-month fixed term training contract and as an NMC Registrant, you will be an active member of the workforce team. You will be supported in General Practice with an allocated clinical educator / supervisor. You will learn a wide range of fundamental skills to ensure you become a qualified GPN over the 12mth programme. You will attend University one day a week to undertake the Fundamentals in General Practice Nursing course. This course will equip you with the core skills required for the role. It is aligned to the Primary Care and GPN Career and Core Capabilities Framework (2022). The course will develop your clinical and academic skills and prepare you for a career in general practice.
