As the Subject Lead for PE & Dance, you will lead a dedicated department focused on delivering a high-quality curriculum that promotes physical fitness, team collaboration, and a lifelong love of movement and performance. This role requires a qualified teacher with a minimum of six months' experience in UK schools, ideally with expertise in PE, dance, or both.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and oversee the PE & Dance curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring a balanced, engaging, and challenging program for all students.
* Deliver high-quality PE and dance lessons that cater to various skill levels, encouraging active participation, teamwork, and skill development.
* Design and implement enrichment opportunities such as after-school sports clubs, dance rehearsals, and competitions, fostering a positive environment for students to explore their interests outside of the classroom.
* Monitor and assess student progress, using assessment data to support individual learning needs and to improve student outcomes.
* Collaborate with the leadership team to develop a strategic vision for the department, promoting best practices, high standards, and continuous improvement.
* Mentor and guide colleagues within the PE & Dance department, sharing expertise and providing support to develop their teaching skills and subject knowledge.
* Champion student participation in physical activity and sports, emphasizing the importance of fitness, wellness, and the joy of movement.
* Organise and oversee sports events and performances, including coordinating with external organizations for competitions, showcases, and community partnerships.
* Manage departmental resources effectively, ensuring equipment and facilities are maintained and accessible to all students.
* Engage with parents and carers regarding student progress, achievements, and participation in sports and dance, building strong school-community relationships.
* Promote inclusivity and equal opportunities in physical education, ensuring all students can participate and benefit from the curriculum regardless of ability.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching PE and/or Dance in UK schools.
* At least 6 months of relevant teaching experience within the UK, ideally with a track record of high-quality teaching and successful student outcomes.
* Strong subject knowledge in both PE and Dance, with an enthusiasm for inspiring students to reach their potential.
* Demonstrated leadership abilities or prior experience in a leadership role within a school setting is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external partners.
* A passion for developing a thriving PE & Dance department, with a commitment to fostering student achievement and well-being.
