This Biomedical Science position is suitable for a qualified Stem Cell - Biomedical Scientist to apply on a locum basis to start as a locum with a pay of £35 - £40 P/H.
Beneficial criteria to help be successful in this BMS role include the following:
* Maintain an up to date knowledge of Haematology/Blood Transfusion and Stem Cell Biology including current working practices.
* Assist in research projects, where necessary, and to be involved in the development of new procedures and techniques.
* Assisting in the sampling, processing and cryopreservation of stem cell products.
* Work in a clean-room environment to process stem cells for patient transplant.
* Use interpretive skills to determine clinically significant laboratory results and take action.
* Ensure safe practice when using liquid nitrogen following Health and Safety guidelines.
* Following and implementing standards as required by the appropriate regulatory bodies such as JACIE and HTA.
* Assisting during the infusion of stem cell transplants on the ward including thawing of the product.
* Efficient management of patients’ clinical material and maintenance of a safe system of storage. Manage the safe disposal of transplant material in a timely manner to meet regulatory requirements.
