Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable individual to join our team and support a delightful 6-year-old little girl with Cerebral Palsy. She is a sociable and happy girl who loves meeting new people and engaging in a variety of activities. She is fed via a PEG, experiences epilepsy, and needs support with mobility, using a walker and wheelchair. Your role will involve providing support both within the home and out in the community, helping her stay active, engage in enjoyable activities, and live her best life.
In addition, you will be supporting her in communication, learning how she communicates and using her communication aids. You will also assist with monitoring her health, including blood monitoring and supporting her keto diet.
Duties
Assist with play and entertainment, helping to choose activities after school or on weekends, such as sensory activities, reading, and playtime.
Provide support with personal care.
Help with food preparation and mealtime assistance.
Support her physical wellbeing through activities such as physiotherapy.
Administer medication as required.
Join the family on UK and international holidays as needed.
Full training, handovers, and shadow shifts will be provided.
We are looking for someone who is professional, energetic, hardworking, and confident. While previous experience working with physically disabled children or young adults is preferred, training can be provided for the right person. The ideal candidate will:
Be friendly, caring, and supportive.
Have a bubbly, positive attitude and be someone our daughter will feel comfortable with.
Be reliable and adaptable with excellent organizational skills.
Be IT literate to include Microsoft Applications.
Ideally have experience in moving/handling, personal care (e.g. pad changing), and handling emergency situations (such as epilepsy), but this is not essential as training will be provided.
Above all, we are looking for the right personality—a kind, can-do attitude, and a compassionate and caring nature.
If you are ready to make a positive impact in the lives of others while working in a supportive environment, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding position as a Support Worker.
