Job overview
We are looking for two friendly, flexible and conscientious people to join our small team of Domestic Assistants at Blyth Community Hospital. Details of the two posts are below. Please state in your supporting information which post you are most interested in or have availability for.

Post 1: is to work 16.5hrs per week and the role is currently based in an outpatients / admin area. Hours of work are usually Monday - Friday between 3.30pm-7pm or 4pm - 7pm although some flexibility / negotiation may be required to meet the needs of the service.
Post 2: is to work 20 hrs per week in an Outpatients area. Hours of work are Monday - Friday 3pm - 7pm although some flexibility / negotiation may be required to meet the needs of the service.
Other hours may also be available.
Main duties of the job
Quite simply, the NHS could not function without our Domestics! Every single service in the Trust relies on domestics to keep the place clean and safe for patients, visitors and staff. You’ll be part of a team striving to maintain the highest cleanliness standards in wards, departments, corridors and offices, and in doing so making a real difference to the NHS.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Examples of the tasks that we carry out are:
* Cleaning of floor areas as scheduled by means of vacuuming, mopping, buffing and spray cleaning.
* Undertake “deep cleans” in areas where infection is present.
* Removal of rubbish including domestic and clinical waste from designated areas to disposal point.
* Damp dusting of all surfaces, ledges, shelves, curtain rails.
* Cleaning of internal glass and external hand washing facilities.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.
* Carry out any urgent spot cleaning and spillage when required.
* Other tasks as deemed appropriate by management.
Person specification
Qualifications & Experience
* Basic Food Hygiene and/or Level 1 Food Safety Certificate or must be achieved within 6 months of start date
* Basic Numerate & Literate Skills
* NVQ Level 1 or 2 or equivalent
* GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
* Previous Cleaning Experience
* Good Communication Skills
