Job summary The Comet Chemotherapy Unit, located at Crawley Hospital, offers specialised and compassionate care for Haematology and Oncology outpatients. The unit consists of two main sections: the outpatient clinic and the day unit. The day unit is designed to provide comfort and privacy for patients, equipped with 16 patient chairs and two private rooms. Here, patients undergo a range of treatments, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, venesections, and routine blood tests. The post is responsible for providing administrative support on Comet to ensure the smooth running of the unit for patients, visitors and staff. To work in line with hospital and unit policies and procedures and accept responsibility for other duties with the unit as required.The post holder is also responsible for organising their own workload and will fulfil all administrative and clerical tasks associated with efficient patient flow and discharge processes across the hospital. Main duties of the job The role involves welcoming patients, visitors, and staff, handling telephone inquiries, maintaining communication between patients and the multidisciplinary team, and reporting concerns to the shift leader. Responsibilities include supporting ward management, maintaining accurate patient records, booking appointments, coordinating with admissions and medical records, and assisting in ordering supplies. The post holder must ensure patient confidentiality, comply with health and safety regulations, and follow Trust policies, including those related to risk management, safeguarding, and equal opportunities Administrative duties include processing healthcare records, organizing patient transfers, updating Cerner records, managing discharge documentation, and assisting with ward administration.Additional duties include assisting with patient care where needed, supporting new staff orientation, maintaining cleanliness standards, and participating in training and quality improvement initiatives.
