Job Overview: The Night Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment during night-time hours. This role involves monitoring and patrolling the premises, protecting property, ensuring safety from theft or vandalism, and responding promptly to alarms or emergencies. The officer will enforce site regulations, detect suspicious activity, and ensure the safety of staff and assets. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to act decisively in high-pressure situations are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
* Premises Monitoring & Patrolling: Regularly patrol the premises to ensure safety and security, preventing unauthorized access and identifying potential security risks.
* Protection of Property: Safeguard equipment, materials, and assets from theft, damage, or vandalism by maintaining constant vigilance.
* Surveillance & Reporting: Monitor security systems and surveillance equipment. Report any irregularities or suspicious activities immediately.
* Emergency Response: Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies in a timely and professional manner, following company protocols.
* Regulation Enforcement: Enforce site rules, regulations, and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
* Access Control: Assist with access control by checking credentials, monitoring entry and exit points, and ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed on site.
* Incident Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate logs of all activities, observations, incidents, and responses during the shift.
* Company Collaboration: Coordinate with other security personnel or management when necessary to address security issues or incidents.
* Continuous Improvement: Suggest improvements to security systems or protocols based on observations and experience.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with team members, management, and supervisor responders.
* Attention to Detail: Keen observation skills and an ability to notice and report any unusual or suspicious activity.
* Decisiveness Under Pressure: Ability to make quick, effective decisions in stressful or emergency situations.
* Experience in Security (Preferred): Prior experience in security, or a related field is advantageous.
* Physical Fitness: Ability to conduct regular patrols and remain alert during the full shift.
* Knowledge of Security Systems (Preferred): Familiarity with surveillance equipment, alarm systems, and security protocols.
* Availability: Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Working Conditions:
* This position requires overnight shifts, with potential exposure to varying weather conditions depending on the premises.
* The role may require standing or walking for long periods.
Must have:
* Valid Door Supervisor SIA license
* Pride in personal appearance
* Good communication skills
* Full 5-year checkable work history
* Right to work in the United Kingdom
* At least 3 years security experience
