The people who work off-track are as important to Formula 1 as those behind the wheel. As a RF Engineer, commissioning F1’s RF equipment at race events to guarantee the smooth operation of F1’s and associated broadcasters RF requirements, you could be one of them Reporting into the Audio Engineering Manager, you will: Install, commission, maintain and operate F1’s inventory of broadcast RF equipment at Grand Prix events and at Sapphire House. Assist in the design and specification of upgrades to F1’s RF engineering infrastructure, both at Sapphire House and at Grand Prix events, in order to continue to meet F1’s current and future broadcast requirements. Keep alongside developments in RF engineering and consider how these may be incorporated into future F1 engineering solutions. Assist with the preparation of details costing for upgrades and projects being undertaken and keeping within those projected costs once authorized. Rig, and then following the event, de-rig F1’s broadcast RF infrastructure at Grand Prix events. Ensure as far as is practicable that the operation of FOM’s RF systems is in accordance with accepted H&S guidelines in respect of personnel operating within or near to RF radiation. Work closely with F1 and associated broadcast partner’s audio and vision teams. Specification Essentials: Experience of events or an environment where large scale RF rigs are required Operating RF spectrum analysis equipment to troubleshoot issues Operation and set up of copper and RF over Fibre systems Understanding of or background in frequency coordination in a limited spectrum Understanding and interest in both copper and RF over Fibre systems Understanding of operational signal flow in a broadcast environment A high degree of computer literacy Ability to extensively travel internationally Desirable: BSc or similar qualification in Engineering or a background in Outside Broadcast engineering Background in RF for TV or live Sports environments Operational knowledge of other broadcast equipment is desirable.
