Are you ready to shape the future of cell analysis?
ZOMP, an ambitious University of Cambridge spin-out backed by leading investors (Foresight Group, ZEISS, BGF, University of Cambridge), is seeking a driven and adaptable person to join our core team. We've developed the world’s first 3D imaging flow cytometer, offering unparalleled insights through fluorescence and label-free imaging. This is your chance to get hands-on with revolutionary technology and contribute directly to ground-breaking life science discoveries.
Your Opportunity: Make a Tangible Impact
Forget routine roles. As a key member of our close-knit team, you'll be at the intersection of cutting-edge instrumentation and biological application. You won't just be supporting tasks; you'll be actively contributing to the refinement of our technology and enabling its success in the real world. This includes:
* Mastering Core Biological Techniques: Become proficient in cell culture, sample preparation (including fixation and staining), and executing cell-based experiments crucial for validating and showcasing our cytometer's capabilities.
* Becoming an Instrument Champion: Gain deep expertise in operating, demonstrating, and performing first-line troubleshooting on our unique 3D imaging flow cytometer. You'll be instrumental in gathering high-quality data both internally and at pioneering customer sites.
* Driving R&D and Product Improvement: Your hands-on experience and observations will be vital. You'll provide practical support to R&D projects, document findings meticulously, and channel user feedback directly to the instrument development team (including the original inventor and the original builder of the product).
* Ensuring Operational Excellence: Take ownership of maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-resourced laboratory environment, managing inventory and upholding best practices.
What You'll Bring:
* Strong Foundation: A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant life science field (e.g., Biology, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry).
* Hands-on Lab Experience: Demonstrable practical experience in cell culture and standard molecular/cell biology lab techniques.
* Technical Aptitude & Curiosity: Enthusiasm for learning and working with novel scientific instrumentation. Experience with microscopy or flow cytometry is a plus, but not essential – your willingness to learn is key.
* Proactive Problem-Solver: You see a challenge and actively seek solutions.
* Adaptability & Drive: Thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment where priorities can evolve. You embrace our "progress beats perfection" philosophy to keep innovation moving.
* Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel (primarily within a ~1-hour radius of Cambridge) to customer/collaborator sites to support demonstrations (full training provided).
Why ZOMP? What We Offer:
* Unparalleled Learning: Direct mentorship from the founders of the business and collaboration with a world-class, multidisciplinary team.
* Career Growth: Genuine opportunities for progression and skill development as the company scales. Your contribution will be visible and valued.
* Ground-breaking Work: Be part of an exciting journey, building a technology with the potential to revolutionize cell analysis and contribute significantly to scientific discovery.
* Dynamic Culture: We celebrate successes, learn constructively from setbacks, and foster an environment of innovation and collaboration.
* Competitive Rewards: We offer a generous salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including:
* Excellent Holiday Allowance: 34 days + public holidays.
* Pension Scheme.
