This role stands over Product, Customer and Stock (shrink) control. You will partner with Finance Directors to provide financial control assurance to them and their teams, and independently apply judgment to ensure the accuracy of our financial records across these three significant areas. Within the scope of your role, you will co-pilot commercial finance and the wider business as a representative for control; drive global control alignment across both the UK and other business divisions in the Group; develop and implement control policy; and provide assurance over a core part of our financial results. You will manage a team of 5 as well as work closely with teams in India focusing on their development to ensure joint delivery of compliance and continuous improvement to our financial control framework. Delivering accurate and timely financial results for Product, Customer & Shrink, in the UK business. Supporting global control alignment for Product, Customer & Shrink Control across the Group. Analysing new/existing business initiatives, challenging assumptions highlighting risks, opportunities, and control requirements (recent examples including Marketplace, Entertainer & Paperchase). Supporting key Finance Transformation projects which impact your areas of responsibility. Ensuring period end close activities are planned and carried out according to agreed close schedules, and that all accounting follows both IFRS and Tesco’s Group Accounting Policies. Ensuring control frameworks are in line with relevant Tesco Group Policies and refreshed at regular intervals. Designing and implementing remediation for internal Control deficiencies, Internal and External Audit observations process improvements to period close. Providing financial control assurance to senior colleagues in Business Partnering, Financial Planning & Analysis and other financial control teams, e.g., Regional Controllers. Co-owning Commercial Income Policy with Legal, Commercial and Technology, and facilitating monthly Governance meetings with Finance and Category Directors and quarterly Governance meetings with the Group Chief Product Officer. Working closely with and provide guidance to Tesco Business Solutions Team, and as owner and customer of the process ensuring their accountability for delivery to agreed service levels and key performance indicators through the Service Delivery Model. Embracing a continuous improvement approach and identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities in accounting processes owned by this role Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) Previous experience of working in a control, audit or technical environment Working knowledge of process improvement methodologies alongside demonstrable commercial experience Working experience of risk based management Delivery through material use of shared services LI-AG1 LI-Hybrid
