The Retail Banking division works alongside an extensive network of stakeholders to help drive our FCA objectives and priorities with a wide variety of banks and building societies. In the Mortgage Portfolio Team, we work alongside an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders to protect consumers and drive forward better outcomes for them. As an Associate, you will use your curiosity and supervisory judgement to analyse data from a whole range of sources to identify potential harm or risks of harm to consumers or markets. You will need to respond quickly and assertively to investigate and mitigate these areas and work directly with the firms’ Senior Management and Executives to address our concerns. Working in the Mortgage Portfolio Team, you’ll looking at a diverse range of mortgage lenders’ business models and you will need to keep up with the evolving landscape. With rising interest rates, the cost-of-living crisis, the implementation of Consumer Duty and a changing market a number of these firms are in a challenging environment and adapting to changes in consumer behaviour. You will be at the heart of developing and delivering supervisory strategies to proactively manage the risks within the mortgages portfolio and ensure consumers are always put first, as well as overseeing remediation where firms have fallen short of our expectations. Work in the Retail Banking department has the potential to be high profile and we are looking to recruit a talented, motivated and outcome focused individual to join the mortgage portfolio team. What will you be doing? Using your judgement and curiosity on a daily basis, you will be: Analysing firms’ business model and strategies and identifying the key risks of harm Contribute to the development and implementation of an effective supervisory strategy to address key risks of harm Working on event-driven (reactive) work in response to firm issues and industry developments Forming sound judgement on a variety of topics and delivering this clearly and succinctly to internal and external stakeholders Engaging with firms to influence conduct behaviour to deliver better outcomes for their customers, including regarding their business model, financial resilience, and culture Working collaboratively and building strong relationships with stakeholders across the department and the wider FCA, including specialist supervision areas, Consumer Finance, Authorisations and Enforcement Support, coordinate and help deliver key supervisory projects using strong analysis skills What will you get from the role?
