Main duties of the job To provide anaesthesia for each of the fixed / flexible theatre sessions for paediatric patients undergoing cardiothoracic, catheter laboratory or general procedures. Adult sessions will be available by mutual agreement To participate in the paediatric cardiac consultant On-Call Rota. This will be on a 1 in 4 basis. To participate in pre assessment clinics and MDT meetings. Deliver a high quality anaesthetic service, supporting the department with a positive attitude towards flexible working. Work with the acute pain team to provide safe and effective postoperative analgesia to patients in relation to Paediatrics. Supervise and train junior anaesthetic medical staff. To participate in Clinical teaching of both undergraduates and postgraduates studying towards the FRCA examination Develop the EMCHC Anaesthetic Service along with the other Consultants at UHL. To attend and actively contribute to management meetings both within the Directorate and Trust wide. To participate in and contribute to the clinical governance process, to ensure good standards of practice as prescribed by the GMC guidance on good practice To undertake Clinical Audit as relevant to the needs of the department.
