Stack Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Horsham
Purpose of the role:
Focused on delivering stack manufacturing engineering projects as well as supporting partner collaboration projects to ensure success. This would include delivery of continuous improvement and kaizen projects as well as production support and industrialisation activities related to the stack product and its associated manufacturing processes. This will often include cross functional collaboration across the business as well as with partners and suppliers.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Own and support delivery of new products and processes as well as associated tooling and equipment related to the stack product, within stack manufacturing engineering, using the business New Product Introduction (NPI process).
2. Collaborate with production, mechanical engineering, quality, test, procurement and systems to ensure coherent solutions delivered to high quality and on time.
3. Determines specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
4. Develop stack manufacturing solutions suitable for prototype and low-level production processes as well as for volume production at partner sites.
5. Lead issue resolution tasks using industry standard practices, involving cross functional teams where required.
6. Create, edit and maintain work instruction documents for stack assembly processes.
7. Apply and influence design for manufacture and assembly principles when developing new products or updated existing ones.
8. Support Technology Transfer activities to and from partners for stack manufacturing equipment and processes.
9. Support production engineering teams for stack manufacturing queries.
Knowledge and skills required for the role:
1. Ideally BEng/MEng in manufacturing or mechanical engineering or relevant field
2. Several years proven manufacturing engineering experience with mechanical engineering or industrial engineering bias
3. Experience of using manufacture engineering tools such as PFMEA, DFMA, value add/non-value, error proofing and process mapping
4. Application of quality statistical process control, such as control charts, Cp, Cpk, Guage R&R analysis
5. Ability to produce clear and concise reports to summarise work packages
6. Awareness of automated production line design and build
7. Solves complex problems, take a new perspective on existing solutions
8. Hands on engineer with good technical understanding and decision-making ability
9. Excellent communicator. Able to work with technicians and shop floor teams as well as colleagues to develop coherent solutions and fine tune processes
10. Excellent organisational skills with the ability and confidence to work in a fast-paced organisation
11. Capable of handling multiple projects of varying maturing and priority
