The Integrated Legal Team at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for two Paralegals to join our team in a key role to support the delivery of in-house case management. The Team delivers expert in-house legal services across Claims, Inquests, Mental Capacity Law and Mental Health Law as well as wide-ranging Healthcare Law. This role is a key part of the ongoing development of the Integrated Legal Team to ensure the in-house legal service provision is of the highest standard in the most complex cases, trust-wide.
Main duties of the job
To provide day-to-day legal case management of a cohort of the Trust's cases that are subject to Coronial Investigations or other court proceedings. Working to ensure excellent quality case management including considered, compassionate clinical staff support for the duration of the applicable legal process, whilst ensuring the Trust's legal compliance.
Job responsibilities
The post holder will deliver a high-quality Paralegal service, with their own caseload (see full JD).
Person Specification
Knowledge/Experience
* Experience of legal processes
* Ability to analyse complex data
* Understanding of medical and legal terminology
* Experience of producing documents to a high standard with good accuracy
* Experience of maintaining office systems
* Experience of working as part of a team
Qualifications
* Law degree or substantial practical legal experience coupled with some level of legal qualification
