We are currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and make a positive impact in schools within the Bournemouth and wider Dorset area.
Role Overview:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be placed in different mainstream primary schools within the Dorset area. You will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) to support children with various special educational needs. Your role will involve providing tailored, 1:1 or small group support, helping children engage with the curriculum, and fostering their social and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Individual & Group Support: Provide 1:1 or small group support for students with SEN.
* Educational Support: Assist in the delivery of tailored education programs and activities for students with specific learning needs.
* Behavior & Emotional Support: Implement strategies for behavior management and provide emotional support.
* Adapted Learning: Modify lessons to ensure accessibility for all students.
* Collaboration: Communicate regularly with class teachers and SENCOs to monitor and review student progress.
* Life Skills Development: Help students develop independence, confidence, and key life skills.
* School Participation: Support students in participating fully in all aspects of school life.
Key Requirements:
* Experience: Proven experience working with children with SEN, preferably within a primary school setting.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of different types of SEN (e.g., autism, dyslexia, ADHD).
* Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* Attributes: Patience, empathy, and adaptability in working with children.
* Independence & Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
* DBS Check: A valid DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.
